Universal is always quick to respond. We have opened satellite offices in outlying communities to decrease the response time of our emergency crews. Usually your first contact will be with an insurance adjuster, who will be able to confirm your coverage of the loss. Depending on the type of loss the time from when the loss happens to when the repairs are complete can vary. Due to the unpredictable nature of water and fire damage the full extent of the damage cannot be determined until the drying and remediation stage is complete. The emergency remediation usually takes 3 to 7 days, depending on the type of loss. Once the drying and remediation is complete we, or your adjuster, can then determine a scope of the necessary repairs.
This is a listing by room, detailing what will need to be repaired in order to return your property to a pre-loss condition. We then submit a cost of the repairs to your adjuster for confirmation and approval. This process usually takes 10 to 15 days from the time of loss. Once Universal has received authorization, we can then schedule you in for the reconstruction. At this point you can choose your replacement flooring, paint colours and discuss any changes that you may want to make.
Many of losses that we deal with are related to seasonal weather patterns that can cause a rush of claims. These situations can cause small delays in the time it takes to complete your claim.
